yes, at some point

they are actually really different, they just have similar structures because they are optimized, it's called convergent evolution.

Depends what you're thinking of.. All animals descend from sea animals, including mammals. But all mammals descend from land mammals, including aquatic mammals.

About a quarter of all named mammal species are bats.
But you're asking 'why did powered flight only evolve once in mammals'. That's the easy question - powered flight is energetically very expensive.
The hard question is 'why did any mammals evolve to fly?'
