It only takes them 50 starships each sending around 35 people to Mars to send 1750 people per orbital alignment to Mars, and that is ignoring the fact that that is the low end of what SpaceX will be able to produce with their massive starship factory in florida thats being built right now. SpaceX is also incentivized to bring people to Mars, because even with relatively advanced automation they will require much more then 10k people to get anything close to being fully self sustaining, and SpaceX wants the colony to be come fully self sustaining as soon as possible.
