>>14422044 which is completely unfounded and outright damaging to any "green" cause, and i will now textually scream the reason:
THE THING THAT MAKES NUCLEAR WASTE DANGEROUS IS EXCESS NUCLEAR ENERGY WITHIN THAT WASTE, SO THE SAFEST THING YOU COULD POSSIBLY DO WITH THAT ENERGY IS USE IT, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT A BREEDER REACTOR DOES, WHICH MEANS THE SAFEST PLACE TO PUT NUCLEAR WASTE IS LITERALLY THE SAME REACTOR THAT CREATED IT, YOU FUCKING RETARDED PSEUDOENVIRONMENTALIST SHITS.
and yes, there are plenty of reactor designs capable of this, and plenty of ways to make them safe. Three Mile Island's reactor might still be partially molten - but it's an American reactor, so it was built to the American standard of pre-encasing the whole thing in a concrete tomb much like the Chernobyl Sarcophagus BEFORE IT WAS EVEN FUELED.
you could have camped naked right outside the reactor for the entire ~12 months radiation readings were elevated and you'd have gotten the equivalent of something like 2 dental X-rays total from the molten nuclear core a few dozen feet away (most of your exposure to radiation would have come from the fucking sun).
