MY problem with EA's isn't that they sometimes come out with good ideas that are important, it's that most of the time they think of problems but never want to try and solve them. I've seen very few EA's actually do alignment work or empirical work. MIRI's approach is to me a non starter, since agent foundations are so high diamention it's hard to them they could have ever worked.
MAybe there is a lot of EA's doing actual alignment work but I never hear about them, but right now what I see is a bunch of people theorizing how the world will end with no attempt to actually fix anything. I hope you learn from there mistake and actually try to solve the damn problem
