You're not conscious of how are breathing automatically or that your hands are typing automatically without even having to look at what you're pressing. Not even aware of the fact that words just flow from one to another without even trying to analyze what each words mean or why its flowing as such. Nor are you aware of what you're doing when you think about something, etc etc. These are all autonomous functions of the body.
To break up your initial claim of being always conscious and always self-aware, you just need to analyze what has happened in the past 5 minute. First, you're not aware of all the things that happened right infront of your eyes. You have a generalized background understand of things but not a full awareness. If you look at the keyboard right now, your main consciousness is shifted to the keyboard. If you're really paying attention to what you're typing and try to count how many times you press the vowel keys on your keyboard, you then will then lose awareness of the surroundings. A gorilla could come and go and you'd not notice.
