I called this literally when the outbreak happened. It's just being exploited to boost tech development and break down some standardisation tethers. The vaccine industry needed a rethink, the disease industry needed a rethink, the current NGO standardisation structure on all fronts needs a rethink.

In reality, we need to know this content person to person and standards are not improving our actual knowledge of how things function.
It get's worse when you realise builders and engineers have probably been ignoring standards deliberately because of the pay walls they have and the certificate requirements that are dictated by the law.
They are actually worsening the problem.
This is a massive issue in most industries globally.
Especially when you see how shit some third world journal articles are.
