So, we don't have the quarter pounder here so I googled both of them because I felt like seeing a huge burger and it turns out that 1/3 of a pound is 154 grams. It's fucking minuscule. Because he's lying. A typical american burger has two or more quarter pound patties, and it isn't uncommon to order more than one of them for a single meal. If I'm going to be eating burgers, usually I get two burgers each with two quarter pound patties. That's a pound of beef, and it's not hard to eat that much.

I have no idea what your schools call what calc class but for me it was differential, integral, differential equations, and multivariable as 1,2,3,4. I thought multivariable was the easiest, and struggled with differential equations but I also drank heavily and played WoW for the entirety of that year.

Couple weeks into calculus 1 now, doing well, already past the chain rule and beyond. Quotient rule was a joke. Product rule remains my specialty.

I ask my professor his thoughts on quantum mechanics and partial derivatives. He's impressed i know about the subject. We converse after class for some time, sharing mathematical insights; i can keep up. He tells me of great things ahead like series and laplacians. I tell him i already read about series on wikipedia. He is yet again impressed at my enthusiasm. What a joy it is to have your professor visibly brighten when he learns of your talents.

And now I sit here wondering what it must be like to be a brainlet, unable to engage your professor as an intellectual peer. All of the deep conversations you people must miss out on because you aren't able to overcome the intellectual IQ barrier that stands in the way of your academic success... it's so sad. My professor and I know each other on first name basis now, but i call him Dr. out of respect.

And yet here you brainlets sit, probably havent even made eye contact with yours out of fear that they will gauge your brainlet IQ levels.

A true shame, but just know it is because i was born special that i am special. I can't help being a genius, nor can my professor. Two of a kind is two flocks in a bush.

Enthusiasm is great, I'm glad you're confident in the field you find interesting, just be careful with that kind of attitude because if you make mistakes later on or show your ignorance on a topic to which you claimed to have already read up on, they will start to think you are a pseud. Some profs will treat you very poorly if they develop this opinion of you.

I looked this up. The 1/3 pound burger was launched in the 1980s when McDonald's was a juggernaut and A&W was in decline. There are almost none left. I don't think it was fractions so much as a small chain being slayed by a giant.

I needed four tries for calc 2
I passed calc 1 and 3 the first try

I dunno why it was that hard for me. I calculate through all the material, read and watched explanations and was in the exam views, calc 2 was that subject I put the mos effort into. And at the end I barely passed after 4 times.

It's because a lot of people don't go to college immediately after high school, and you forgot how to do a lot of math when you never use it.
So unironically the smartass kids who say "but when will we ever use this in the real world?" are right for most people.

Most majors require passing at least college algebra. So Tiffany in Early Childhood Education and Dakshuan in African Diaspora Studies are forced to take a class that's far more advanced than anything they had to bother with in high school. It might take them several tries to pass but since it's required and is the only math class they must take, the number of failures for College Algebra increases quickly. The next easiest and next most difficult math classes have less failures because less students take them and they're not core classes.

For unrelated reasons, I've had the opportunity to work through at least 10 different US college level calculus books and they were all piss easy in the sense that there never was any tricks or challenging problems where you had to be creative. For the most part it was incredibly straightforward. The only notable exception is one book that had section with challenging and Putnam problems. My own analysis classes were essentially based on interesting and tricky problems. I've never seen a problem where you had to split an integral into an infinite series of integrals, sum the series then solve that to obtain the solution. It's always TEE HEE WE JUST SAID \int 1/x dx = ln|x|, HERE'S 50 PROBLEMS THAT NEED u SUBSTITUTION.
