>>13593054In my experience, you can see the planets even with a small telescope. It's a really cool feeling looking at Jupiter and seeing the Galileans, or at the tiny dot of Saturn and very faintly seeing its rings. Depending on your light pollution you may or may not be able to see deep space objects.
Alternatively, the Moon is a great target that can easily be seen everywhere. The craters and seas look awesome.
