Had my first case of Torsades recently, happened after giving 300mg amiodarone for Vtach that didn't react to 3x200J shocks. 300J shock took care of the TdP, got ROSC and patient currently has a favourable neurological outcome.

Can't imagine a situation otherwise where you need ultrasound to make a clinical decision on something like cardiac tamponade or pleural effusion, but don't have a proper high-res ultrasound available - unless you're some wacky emergency/military doc doing serious procedures in field conditions; and for anything non-emergency a handheld US seems even more pointless

Other countries realized that it's not worth artificially restricting the supply of med students.
If you do that, then you just end up in the situation the US is in right now. On average, we have the best trained doctors in the world, but we have a ton of the work being done by NPs who cheated their way through online school. Instead of coming up with reasonable training and pay, we have a two tiered system.

Based on what I've seen of american healthcare(through the internet), it's not through any superior training or education, but because american doctors more than any other doctors in the world know that they can get lawyerfucked hardcore over negligence
some of my retard colleagues in my country fuck up constantly and yet it gets swept under the rug through nepotism or bureaucracy - I imagine the same happens in the US, but to a much lesser extent due to your lawsuit culture

Well, yeah, there's also the multiple tiers of 'doctors' where you've got 'residents' doing essentially all the doctor work you'd expect, but are still a long way from a proper M.D. status that people only achieve by their early-mid 30s(which would mean a doctor with ~10 years experience in other systems)

it's a pure lecture course, the lab portion is just the professor giving us powerpoints of slides and having us identify stuff. no access to microscopes.
i've just been going through powerpoints and trying to distill the main points. i take all the slide images we get during lecture, clear them of any labels and try to relabel them. if i study in the morning then i'm able to relabel them later that afternoon. but if i try to relabel everything the next day it's like i've forgotten everything. it's weird, i don't have this retention problem with other material.

this is all wrong, cancer is more the cells that managed to gain actually useful mutations (from their perspective) that allow them to bypass the normal regulatory system than some opportunist breakout.
