The only thing missing for us to build one is to have an industrial base in space. Space is actually quite easy to do many industrial processes in, you can smelt metals using only solar reflectors for example, but we obviously have a lot more work to do before we get there.
A Dyson sphere is like us discovering a new continent on Earth, and over the course of many generations we populate it, build infrastructure etc. Only difference is that a Dyson Sphere is larger than the size of a continent, larger than the size of a planet, and in fact contains as much living space as every Earth-like planet in our galaxy combined.
