Allow me to give an analogy:
Playstation 3 versus Playstation 5.
Sure we all want the new model the PS5.
And most of us have abandoned the PS3.
But the PS3 has still not been pushed to its coding or hardware limits today, after 14 years.
For a further analogy see: 8bit Commodore 64 demo coding. Its 2021 and new techniques are still being discovered on the old machine which would have given people a heart attack in 1982 when the machine was released.
My point: We abandon technology too early without exploring the full implications and limits.
GPT-3 has a potential that can be explored for decades, but it will be abandoned within 2 to 3 years in favor of GPT-4.
Actually that's great! Then the rest of the plebeians (such as myself) can actually get to work and really explore!
