Being aspie does not mean you have a high IQ, it meant (don't think aspie exist anymore) that you do not suffer intellectual impairment as often found in those with autism.
Children's education however, is not made for hyper intelligent kids, since you're stuck progressing at the same pace as all the other kids no matter what. In some cases you may skip a class (depends on area), but this can cause issues with other children, and a mismatch in emotional/social development.
Being intelligent does not affect how you interact with people, but it can give you interests that most people won't share.
"downies" are perfectly capable of caring a conversation; of course, it depends on how much intellectual impairment they have. There are plenty of downies who have a higher IQ than ordinary people.
The average person has an IQ 100, a downie has around 80. It's really not that big of a difference. The average person would probably just be judgmental and not want to interact with the downie.
