The difference between as specialised dog and an average dog is stark, and often it's mainly behavioural traits.
Intelligence is a vague term, but some breeds are just much faster to pick up cues. That's why the malinois is often used in the police and the military. But I'm not sure this is just intelligence, they are also naturally obedient.
