The only thing about the metric system that's "better" than imperial measurements is the fact that it's in units of ten. Otherwise, metric measurements are not granular enough because the base units are larger than the base units of imperial. For example, when measuring speed, you have to default to using meters as the base measurement, which is ~3.28 times larger than a foot. Therefore, making "large" increases in km/h like 60-100 actually results in a net-smaller increase in distance traveled than from 60-100 mph.
