>>13527259Do undergrad research (it’s never too late. Literally email/walk into professor’s office hours and say you love their subject and ask if they have any research or can recommend anyone. They will never say “no go away”) After that maybe see if your department does weekly seminars or any social events with professors. Networking sucks but just getting to know 2 or 3 professors will be a huge gain. Getting into grad school is more during your final year, you straight up just ask professors if they have projects available. This is why undergrad research is useful more often then not it can be a straight segway you don’t even have to do a senior thesis if you don’t want to during undergrad (but that is 100% recommended).
My final advice is never accept a grad school project that isn’t completely paid for. You should never ever ever be paying for your own grad school. Also, see if there are things sort of “outside” of your department. See if you want to do biochem. See if you want to do biogeology (I have a BS in geology I 100% recommend looking into this, geology professors are based and it’s super interesting and rewarding)
