Curly loses all sense of autonomy and is beholden to the whims of an abuser he once trusted but no longer understands, he can only feel despair knowing his life is in danger but no one can help him.
The medication scenes are extra disturbing because you don't fully see what happens, in the same way rape in fiction is usually implied but never shown.
I don't think Curly was actually raped but I strongly believe you're meant to feel it's akin to rape.
There's a bit of homoeroticism between them because while Jimmy is definitely heterosexual, he's such a textbook misogynist who can only feel strongly about another man, all his hatred and inner turmoil is reserved for exactly one man.
It's no wonder some players question if he's an actual fag.
