Hoshina and his men would obviously be able to do things for their family IF they took them with them to the afterlife... but I don't even remember their families being a primary motivator in either them wanting to die or later wanting to live, so I'm not sure what your point is.
Whether dying or not is a good decision depends on what happens afterward and the motivations of the individuals involved, this is only addressed in the story so far from the side of the world of the living and it's concerns, so is only ever a one sided argument or a caricature, basically a strawman that Tokiyuki is BDSMing like
