>>3939486movie shadow's one of my all time favorite interpretations of the character, and i think it's also probably the closest to his original SA2B characterization of all others i've seen. i thought it was especially clever of the writing team to lean into the parallels between his and sonic's respective "found family" themes, given the context of the movieverse. movie shadow is sonic if sonic were robbed of his emotional support network, and his brusque/aloof tendencies are more heavily suggested to be natural outgrowths of the trauma he suffered, as opposed just him being edgy for edginess' sake (which is how most writers seem to write him from 2005 onward).
i also really liked that the movie had shadow's "change of heart" conversation happen with sonic (as opposed to SA2B which had it happen with amy). it felt way more organic, plus was a really nice bone to throw to the sonadow fans
