Either that or he just made everyone have nightmares and he took the appearance of Nightmare CatNap and killed them with their knife and his claws.
Obviously DD wakes up and freaks the fuck out after seeing CatNap kill those guys. He probably drags them both away and to get them help. CN probably doesn't remember anything after blacking out and just thinks DD saved them or something.
idk. CatNap not being born with the gas in this AU makes it a lot harder to tell where he got it from.
