What’s annoying to me personally is that a retcon like this isn’t going to improve upon any accusations of racism (and Vivzie is Salvadoran, she gets a pass on not getting that some Southern US aesthetics are ‘problematic’ or whatever), it’s going to make the wider Western fandom worse due to the retarded infighting of PC fans. I think back to the Steven Universe drama where artists were getting hounded for not drawing characters ‘black enough’ or ‘fat enough’. This is especially true for Asian artists who don’t typically depict darker skinned characters, or make them white/Asain instead. I know many of them won’t even draw certain characters for fear of backlash…which means less art for us, of any color way.
Seems like a shitty thing to do to your fan community instead of just saying ‘white guy does voodoo lol’.
