>>3856036i've never even actually read one, but the descriptions of the various ones i've come across have given me enough of an idea of what it's about that i never want to read one. i hate alpha/beta shit in general (especially the way it glorifies being a domineering overly-macho douchebag), so making it into some kind of physical, anatomical difference makes it even more repulsive. a lot of it also seems to revolve around mpreg which is... not appealing to say the least.

It's like an actual episode of South Park fused with an 80s teen romcom, but cuter and gayer.the thing about high school AUs for me is i just dislike the very premise of aging up the characters. admittedly that's due to my own issues surrounding my lack of a real childhood and my hatred for being an adult. i kind of live vicariously through the boys (and i also explicitly self-insert as an OC character in my imagination or in a couple fics i wrote years ago) and so them growing up is like having to go through that shit all over again for me.
i also just don't find teenagers cute in general. they get too masculine-looking. in some drawings it's okay when they don't draw them with any obvious adultoid features like body hair or an adam's apple, then i can just pretend the drawing is not aged up, but in fics they seem to draw attention to those things.
