mainstream internet copies some of the worst parts of the older, nerdy internet and put then under a corporatized filter as if the same things were the "right thing to do" or just acceptable if the suits think it's not too edgy
i think the mere fact that people on twitter even use "safe words" and can't even type "kill" only makes it worse, because either people are too sensitive or they think the alternative is outright doxxing and getting a whole family fired from their jobs because their teenage son said "nigga"
all because, deep down, calling someone a "faggot rape victim" would unironically be the more reasonable approach and then just move on
and shit like "twitter main characters" is a worse version of saying "lolcow"

the internet sucks because too many people only use a few sites and the result is most websites having the same personality and customs
at least the people who screeched at 9gag in 2012 came from a radically different culture that's different from that site
