Much of the DNA of the show seems to be built on fanfiction, and the logic of fanfiction. Owl House seems like a fanfic of itself at times, because you can clearly see the skeleton of a much more conventional series.
In another universe, Luz and tsundere Amity would be rivals who end up being friends, battle shounen style, with a subset of the fandom devotedly shipping them, and Hunter, the attractive male character with the dark past, would end up with protag Luz.
Similarly, going by the logic of fanfic, now that the main ship has been fulfilled, the other party who could've been with MC should also be set-up with someone. This is extremely common, you can't allow the singlehood vacuum to threaten the logic or integrity of the main ship. In the more fanfic-y universe, it'd be Hunter and Gus or Edric, especially Edric, he's so pretty, but I'm not sure Disney's weird and specific censorship calculus would be fine with any more gay given that Dana already got to do the main relationship
