They're both sect leaders who had to become so very young in very violent circumstances, they both were on the run and later fought in the war, they both know what it means to mourn someone hated by society, whom they trusted but who kept things from them, and by whom they felt betrayed. And yet, they are very different people personality-wise who could benefit from the other's perspective.
That's why I like the ship personally, even though I understand where LXC/JGY fans come from.
