Honestly, last year I was against Anno's idea of how no matter what good Eva did, the bad side was bigger, but after 3.0+1.0 I was hit full force in the face with shit take after shit take in all languages so I completely understand now him being so done with it and leaving everything to Tsurumaki, making him suffer for this shit instead.
The only way to enjoy Eva is honestly with a close group of friends and not looking at anyone else's opinion of it, ever
