>>3674809>The game seems to imply he similarly shut himself off like SunnyBut not at all to the extent that Sunny did. Sunny stopped going to school and basically hangs out in his bedroom every single day. He only leaves occasionally to eat.
It's implied that Basil kept going to school (because Aubrey asked basil to study together) and we can assume he probably left home a few times to gather supplies for his plants and other stuff because Polly only started taking care of Basil a year before the game starts and Basil's grandmother couldn't have done it all at her age. He definitely cut himself off from other people, but I wouldn't compare it to what Sunny did.
There were definitely chances for Basil to reconcile and unify the group too: Hero comes home from college every year. Aubrey didn't start avoiding Basil until she went over to study, which I'm guessing was recent in the timeline. There's no solid proof, but it makes sense with how other events play out.
None of the friends circumstances made it impossible to bring them together. If Basil really wanted to, he could have gotten everyone together again to help Sunny through his depression. The fact that he didn't even try makes him a naive coward who lets other people clean up after his mess in my book.
Hell, Kel managed to unify everyone without any plan at all in just 3 days, and he's an idiot.
>Basil's main issuesI totally agree! But even then, what he did was still pretty shitty. He lets other people fix the mess he made, never really puts much effort into reconciling with everyone, permanently blinds BF's eye, hangs Mari.
Basil does nothing to redeem himself other than look cute AF, and people forgive him just because he's cute. If you took that away from him, people would say he got what he paid for.
