>>3571503Fine. Let's ignore all of my other grievances with this movie for a moment and talk strictly about shipping.
>did you notice this just now? There's quite a bit of difference between people drawing their shotacon based on nothing, and a scene from the movie giving (some) people stranger danger vibes. I am not one of them so I don't give much of a fuck, but I can see where they are coming from.
>when it's confirmed in it that Kaworu and Shinji's feelings were real?Because it didn't. Or at least it's heavily subjective. Think about this for a moment. What did we get out of Kaworu's two minute scene? The Reichu types can now go and claim "See? Kaworu was stalking Shinji through time and space, he never cared about Shinji's happiness, he was a predator all along." Dumbfucks got their "Oh, so Kaworu was literally (literally) Gendo." And the people who always hated Kawoshin now have "Shinji was never bi! Kaworu was straight all along! He is finally free!" Now tell me, what do we have that we didn't have before? What do we not have that we did have before? This is the movie where Asuka-Shinji get a mutual "suki" confession (which Kawoshin only had asynchronously), and Shinji "suki"s Misato's son after a single scene together.
>Didn't you guys say that kawoshin was going to be even more canon once the loops were revealedClassic case of expectations versus reality. Yes, we thought that. We didn't expect all the baggage and hackery that would come with it.
>NO ONE was expecting a explicit kawoshin gay endHowever this comes with the underlying expectation that there won't be a shipping end period, and that at the ship comes out unscathed. Kaworu or Shinji dies? Sure, that's sad. But it's not a tragedy. Both of them alive, Shinji in a relationship (ambiguously, if you so prefer), Kaworu without his memories, the two of them separated, the loops destroyed permanently, bye bye all of Evangelion this is the true end of NGE/EoE/Rebuild? Houston, we have a problem.
