3.0 is a bit of a different case, I think, because Anno went into depression again right after making it. Besides anon, yes, Anno is a total hypocrite and always has been. Read his statements on the series ending, he's super contradictory. His Asukafaggotry is still a factor. I don't trust him to keep his word at all. You can already see in the NHK doc he wanted to keep a hands-off approach and how it was pretty much Tsurumaki's movie at first, but he couldn't keep away. Even if the movie gets no retcons, I can totally see Anno not keeping away in the future spin-offs.
