And you know what? Real life is pretty fucking shitty right now, honestly. We're currently undergoing a mass pandemic that PREVENTED US FROM GOING OUTSIDE for a substantial period of time, we're seeing a gradual increase in horrific wageslave hours and culture, the wealth gap between the elite rich and everyone else is worse than ever, and this isn't even getting into all of the suffering that climate change and biodiversity collapse is going to bring to us in 20 years or so. Yes there are some good experiences once in a blue moon, but the truth is that reality fucking sucks and always has, and it's only going to get worse. Most of us have already learned to tolerate it, nothing more.
But- if Anno REALLY wanted his fans to move on, he should've never made the Rebuilds at all, and he wouldn't be delaying them for a ridiculous amount of time so that he can continue milking fans for merch, game and spinoff money in the process. He could've even gone the Shigesato Itoi route with his franchise and allowed anyone to make and sell their own take on the series so that they could make some money on the side, but he didn't. He still holds the rights like the greedy, lavish millionaire that he is, after having earned millions from the fans he continues to fuck over, and over and over.
And on top of that, he KNOWS his franchise is like a fucking drug addiction to the mentally unhealthy otakus out there, but he still went ahead and did it anyway, didn't he?
So - fuck him, plain and simple. Glad I never bought any merch from this franchise aside from the NGE & EoE DVDs.
