1. ???? is exclusively used to talk about a person/people you love very deeply. You can say it to talk about your lover, sibling(s), friend(s), family as a group, etc. A president or king could use it to refer to the citizens of his country or kingdom. But it isn't used to talk about humanity as a whole.
2. Kaworu knows how to use japanese words. He knows the difference between ????????and ???, and uses them in his lexicon with ease.
So for him to have wanted to convey his love for humanity with ???? is VERY unlikely. He would've definitely used ??.
>awkward mannerEh, he's philosophical more than anything. He can be awkward with his actions in social situations, I'll give you that (eg. Asking Shinji to call him by his name right off the bat, and asking him to take a bath together after knowing him for 2-5 hours). But rather than awkward, his speech is philosophical.
