MC/Adachi is my number two P4 ship, and I still have trouble imagining an in-character Adachi allowing a dude to get that far with him. I agree it’s likely that some kind of premeditated powerplay would be involved. If it were a FeMC, he’d probably just creep on/groom you as much as he could without pissing Dojima off, then call you a dumb bitch once you confront him about being the killer, but imo this exact scenario would be OOC with a male protagonist.
The game does kind of bait you with Adachi’s early SL where MC offers to make him dinner, and he tells you he’d rather have a girl do that and that it’s weird for you two to be alone. He agrees to come over if you insist, but it’s a family dinner with Nanako. So I guess the attraction would be more implied than explicit, with MC inviting Adachi to family dinners, which would lower his guard, and then get him flustered when MC flirts with him, because he’s trying his hardest to keep that sort of thing on the back burner.
I could see Adachi being attracted to MC in the same type of way that Sayoko and Kashiwagi are (that is, as a young hot stud lmao) and choosing to ignore it as best he can until he realizes he can spin things to his advantage.
