>>3474092you're not wrong LOL, i do think their backstory arc is prob meant to appeal to people who aren't me, just bc i find the ostentatiousness of it all a little garish. if, for this reason only, knkz is intended for a bigger crowd of fan artists looking for some huge lore to sink their teeth into and for LN writers to essentially generate more money, i can accept that pretty readily. don't get me wrong, i do love the characters individually - this isn't intended to be some sort of kuzuha hate campaign, i like him a lot too; NEET characters are always top of my list
kanae is definitely one of my favourites though, just because i love love love yandere tropes, and i think he's so cute in his priest get-up... religious and yandere? perfect combination, seriously. if we're talking just akkn though, my ideal sort of dynamic for them is kanae getting a power trip out of being looked up to so highly, and also being able to gaslight akina without much struggle www. you'll have to forgive me for my favour towards akina being so starstruck, but i think it gives them an interesting spring board - either towards kanae having that power over him, akina's acute fascination with kanae (enough to obsess over weird, personal details about him), or kanae watching akina from a distance with a curious interest... god forbid i mention akina's girlfriend... but the added dynamic of kanae being possessive over akina without akina even knowing it... (bonus points if this is happening while akina still idolising him - kanae fighting for akina's attention without even knowing it himself).
i'm rambling a little, but the whole trope of yanderes not being aware of their own competitive possessiveness esp when interrupting a pre-established ship is one i love a lot - the sort of, 'i'll do anything and not let anyone get in my way,' type approach. do you have any kanae yandere-isms you enjoy? with kuzuha or anyone else, i don't mind. my favourite nijisanji ship is actualy yumeoi/kagami
