This makes it possible to have both slice of life and deepest lore, but I'd agree some media really avoids exploring the latter and takes advantage of the former. I think when writing productions they have to narrow down which swords are getting full treatment and which are just living their daily business, because otherwise the plotline of a single show becomes a mess. Law of the universe says most popular gets the good shit because it'll sell, the rich get richer etc, but I guess this law is balanced by them abusing that popularity for idolshit.

Nene, Hakusan, and Shizuka went down well, but I remember even Kenshin getting shat on when he came out. Chougi, Buzen, Hizen, and Sensei seem like the most disliked swords in ages.

Now I'm further into the game and media I'm seeing more truth to JP fanart that makes him quiet but not so fiercely hostile. Yet my kneejerk reaction is 'I don't want to make this too cutesy like the dipshits in western fanbase'. I think for the sake of every honmaru is its own honmaru having a more or less spicy Kara makes sense, but there's got to be a limit.
And then I was the OC. Fuck.
