If two males are friends, are of equal intelligence/are-conscious, and they’re aware of the (inherently sexual at core) male power hierarchy then they’re probably sticking together because their relationship serves each other ... which is not perfect, but is pretty much the only kind of relationship I find morally palettable.
The thing is no males are truly equal, and males and females are especially not equal. Perhaps there is balance to be found in male/female relationships if the woman is conscious of power and able (powerful enough) to stand up to the man, but in reality it never works out that way. “God” or society needs to intervene through the church/state in order to maintain a healthy/stable male/female relationship.
