Sure, they present as females and may be socially perceived as such (I've got no problem with that, I'm a pretty open-minded dude or maybe I'm just too old to care about this shit), but characters like Rin or Ruka Urushibara (and I presume the ones anon is posting too) identify as boys and use masculine pronouns.
You might argue they use masculine pronouns because of the japanese culture or because "traps" are more fetishizable than "transgenders" to the target audience, I'm not going to deny there is some substance in that, but I'm only being faithful to the source material and they're considered males there, even if they look, act and willingly dress like girls.
