The problem is there’s 3 or 4 moments, 3 or 4 scenes between Naruto and Sasuke in the span of those first 4 seasons, that are intensely good.
I know that’s not the most compelling recommendation, but I do think it’s worth it to stick with it for those few moments of intense romance.
