Just beat it for the 5th time and tried multiple different things out in the course of said semi speedruns
First of all, I tried 3 different control schemes and id suggest control C for everyone. The default controls are a little wonky with the click to run on the stick. Changing the run to R1, run to hold and having the quick turn on stick+back+O feels much better than the other options
When I intentionally tried to kill every enemy (and I definitely didnt manage to blow up their heads on all cases so plenty kept getting back up) I literally had zero bullets on the handgun or the shotgun by the end of the demo and some enemies were still alive. This could obviously be because I probably didnt pick up every single ammo case available but at the same time, it would have been pretty nightmarish to continue like that (and I think I only missed maybe one or two shots. I also simply sometimes shot their legs off and let the enemy live like the staircase nigger)
The game doesnt feel like an action game at all even though the controls themselves are technically smooth. Leon himself feels heavy as fuck and the "upgrade" to OTS has only made the game harder. Its disorienting as fuck in complete darkness and cramped hallways when you hear zombies everywhere and you cant even trust that the one you already put down stays that way.
More often than not I found myself shooting zombies in the knees or the head and then quickly running by them. It feels like they looked at the combat of dead space but actually applied it to a horror game where you arent necessarily expected to kill the necromorphs (and thats just it, in dead space you delimb to kill everything and headshots arent optimal)
The demo was obviously only a tiny portion of the RPD since there were tons of doors locked by keys, chains and other areas blocked off by puzzles. The demo ends the second you get to the library after finding the first key in the game
