But it is an important point.
Why? Because when martials get to the point where they are magical, there is no more argument over who is better.
As the guy who slashes a mountain with his sword skill that he trained his entire life, is equal to the one who destroy it by creating a magic laser with his arcane knowledge, of which he has studied his entire life.
You can even look at superman, since you mentioned him. Has there ever been a point where the in universe magic was outright better than him? No, because his strength was such that even against outright magic, he could still fight.
The argument comes from when martials are rooted in reality but wizards aren't.
So basically, a fighter could slash his enemy at level 1 and in level 20 he could slash the enemy really hard, but was still within a limit.
The wizard in comparison, at level 20, could change reality at his mere whims, teleport to other planes, create plagues, stop time and so on.
So the difference become obvious that the wizard is superior as he isn't limited to something while the martial is.
Anime and other jap media aren't really affected by it that much, because they usually make their martial into super powered beings anyway.
