Life is literally a delay of inevitables. Staying here is delaying the inevitable ennui. Eating is delaying the inevitable day you enter the foodchain again. Isolating yourself from society is delaying inevitable interaction with them (unless you throw yourself somewhere the animals will eat you faster than rescue crews will find enough of you to bury).
The joy of life is seeing how far you can delay things while achieving maximal happiness and contentedness. I think.
Either way, don't let inevitable bad things keep you down. Remember that good things inevitably follow bad things by definition. Sadness cannot exist without happiness to contrast it, and vice versa. Live life to the fullest, and prep yourself for a well-deserved afterlife.
