I'd personally guess that having 1-2 drinks a few times a week or 3-4 on a weekend, wont be any more harmful to intelligence than like active soda drinking for example.

Small amounts of drinking doesn't kill brain cells. Drinking disrupts absorption which leads to loss of brain cells due to lower amounts of trophic factors floating around because you didn't absorb the stuff you need to make them. Supplement b vitamin absorption if you drink.

Heavy alcohol consumption is just generally bad for your health, I don't recommend it.

I don't like beer, but I recently had a really nice lager that a friend brought over, and it was a lot like drinking coffee. Had a really rich, and refreshingly good taste to it that wasn't sweet, but a nice aromatic taste to it. Really nice to lightly sip while you shoot the shit with someone. Same how you'd enjoy a hot coffee. Drinking to get drunk is gross though I smoke pot, and Fry/Hippie Flip if I'm trying to get weird.
