E-ELT will provide images on average 16 times sharper than those from Hubble, whereas Webb's goal is to detect infrared, so as to observe much more distant and therefore redshifted objects. Webb's light collection power is probably significantly greater than Hubble's with its fucking huge primary mirror, but that's not really the point of Webb

The thing is both should be able to see atmosphere on exoplanets. This is the most important thing everyone should be going after now.

I trust ESA to keep their schedule while WEBB will keep getting pushed back.

WEBBS mirror is much bigger than that of Hubble. Hubble is a little larger than of an average sized tranny. WEBB is mirror surface is about 25 square meters! Not probably significantly greater than Hubble. Significantly greater than Hubble!

Doesn't really matter as it can't do infrared astronomy because of Earth's atmosphere.

I even worked for one of the most famous exoplanet labs, but no. I cannot endorse this statement.
