>>10138629Instead of a controlled release of flame from a Bunsen Burner, you'd have a Bunsen Blaster, a dangerous stream of hot flames pouring forth from the valve with no way to control or regulate it because you can't reach the gas valve controls as it heats up to unimaginable temperatures (more than 100C) from proximity to the flame. It would cook the flesh of anyone in front of it and melt even muscle and bone if you tried to reach through said intolerable fire to turn it off.
You had better hope there was an up-stream gas valve somewhere or a gas shut off button in the lab -- or else that burner could continue pouring forth searing flames for years, just like the natural gas wells that become ignited in the middle east.
