They take their understanding of the concepts they are writing about for granted.

Like right now I'm having trouble understanding why the probability of a single point in a density function is 0. I know why it is so because its a line with no area but it just doesnt make sense to me.

You just gotta keep thinking about concepts until it makes sense, then the proofs and shit get easier.

I often wonder how useful it is to try and gain an 'intuitive' understanding of something rather than to just be satisfied with a result that follows from definitions. Of course there are times when it's appropriate to try, but...
