I don't faint at the sight of blood, but if I have fainted before, for example I was in the Australian desert one time, I opened my car door (it's a big old car so you have to practically wrench it open), and while opening it I accidentally jammed my hand between the door and a spiky plant, stabbed halfway into my hand.
I didn't faint straight away, firstly I pulled my hand off, washed the wound, stopped the bleeding and applied pressure to the wound with some tissues and a rubber band, sat in my car, then fainted in the car seat. Only fainted for 30 seconds at most, I think it was a mechanism to slow my heart rate in case the wound was getting me worked up to the point where the bleeding increases.
