Not necessarily IMO. Too many Dunning Kruger normies are into things like mars missions or environmentalism. They are interested in "science" because of flashy narrated nat geo documentaries with cool 3d animations.
It might be possible that some of these people will mature past that level and appreciate science for its beautiful and profound complexity, but I those people are a tiny minority.

I agree with what you’re saying but it’s only applicable to adults. When I was 13 I spent a considerable amount of time, wasted or not, watching science/atheism meme content and it sparked my interest to learn more and now I’m an engineer. I spent some times teaching kids physics and chemistry when I was studying for my degree and it’s way easier to make them interested with the popsci videos even though they aren’t always perfect. 3/4 of science teachers will do a better job of making you disinterested in what you’re learning compared to the YouTube niggers.

When you put it that way, I agree. For many kids, the cool and easy-to-understand stuff is the only way to spark an interest, my younger self included. I guess that's why I mentioned the Dunning Kruger effect. As a kid you have a lot of time to get past that initial peak of confidence and start to see the realities and develop critical thinking skills, long before you get involved in discussions and politics.

I didn't watch the Veritasium video, and only watched some seconds of his critic.
My impression is is Veritasium made statements about technology that can be true or false, like ""all cars on a street would be able to accelerate at the same time when the light goes from red to green"

while the other guy made statements that were not about technology and what it can do, but about whether it's a good idea or not, if it's moral or not.
So, his criticisms aren't really scientific.
