>>5626482KJG is an outlier, probably doesn’t listen to music while learning to draw. You’re listening to a livestream where the activity is monotonous, I’m talking about learning new parts of the body, not repetitious activity such as painting. There are studies suggesting that multi-tasking seems viable, until you realize how much worse you’re doing in comparison to when you’re listening to silence. Listening to music may seem productive In the moment, but you’re using faculties, switching between them, and not noticing how terribly your attention is messed up because you’re focusing on a task at the moment, so it’s hard to tell if you’re focused because your focus is on the current activity. Multi-taskers should be more efficient in theory, but as the work studies suggest, that’s not the case.
I also find it peculiar that you look at a pro do a thing that is guaranteed to split your attention and say: LOOK HE’S DOING IT!!!!
You’re failing to see the hours he probably put in without to get to the point where him putting his attention in two places doesn’t matter, because he already put in the work to cancel out the disadvantages.
