Take One Punch Man as an example. It's classified as seinen and yet holds a more "shounen" theme than the other two shows. You could argue "but it's a parody" but that doesn't stop it from containing shounen tropes, ie. power levels.
AoTs definitely has its upside and downs.
Its music and animation are the best in the industry, its setting is really well done, and has one of the best world building to date.
Isayama clearly put some thought on how people lived within the walls. There's bits of information that explain how people live, the politics, how the technology works, but in a way where it's not shoved down your throat. The mystery is really good too, where did the walls and titans come from? Are they really the last civilization Earth? Why did the wall get breached now, or the second time? Why do titans only eat people and avoid animals?
If anything the plot gets too slow for some arcs, but still holds its suspension.
It's weakest point is Eren, at least for the first few arcs until he mellows out and has morals aligned towards "if we kill all our enemies then we win" mentality.
As for Deathnote, the first season was good, the mind games where both ridiculous and fun. Light turning from "killing criminals" to "killing innocents so i don't get caught" was great for his character. Second season didn't need to exist except as a reason to capture Kira.
