Technical skill and the ability to draw appealing art have a lot of overlap, but they are not the same. It’s actually what plays into a lot of the soul v soulless stuff. Many people in their attempts to make their art technically better lose what made their art visually appealing in the first place, usually stuff like expressiveness, willingness to take risk with things like poses, etc.

Basically you can draw all the boxes you want, but if you don’t have the eye for art, you’re fucked.

Believe or not he does have a point. What does "badly drawn" mean? That it isn't realistic? That it isn't beautiful? But you said it looks good, It makes me confused. "Badly drawn" is quite the subjective term my friend, these "bad drawings that look good" are likely made on purpose by artist that already know their stuff.

I thought it would be common sense but by badly drawn I mean seemingly lacking any sort of technicality whatsoever. Something done by a completely uneducated beg that still looks good. I really don’t think OP artist can actually draw anything but that sort of thing. I feel like we’re playing pedantic semantics if we start getting into “define bad” when that clearly wasn’t the question. Surely you agree?

I can't really say OP's picture is made by a /BEG/ tier guy, the shapes seem really deliberated and at least to me they seem to be made like that on purpose. It reminds me of the art of books for kids (minus the killing women part). IDK man, personally I don't find OP's image to look good but I don't think it was necessarily done by an unskilled person. Might be just me.

Something being good isnt about whether it looks like a photo, this dude obviously can draw a more realistic figure but doesn't because it's not his style. Look at the way the legs have the muscles/anatomy well defined with just a few strokes, the way the areas of color come together from a design point of view.

The missing factor here is taste, one's ability to pin point what is appealing or interesting to the human eye.
If your art looks good according to your taste, and you have good taste, then your art is good.
Good art with good technicals are always in good taste, but it's not the technicals that grab people. Rather it's certain affects induced by highly technical art that grab people, and non-technical art can also do that.
