>>4951879What are lines, though? What types of physical features correspond to lines on a page? Copying drawings is fairly easy, but I can't figure out how to represent real-world subjects using lines.
The only exceptions are extremely simple idealized forms like boxes and cylinders. Those make enough sense to me: the hard edges are marked with lines, and those define the object's shape and position in space. The brain then sort of fills in the planes.
>>4952016I can get acceptable results if I focus purely on values and eschew the use of lines entirely, but this feels like something of a dead-end. I don't see it serving as a stepping-stone towards drawing from imagination.
>>4952028I have the opposite issue. The shortest amount of time I've spent on a drawing that wasn't a stick figure comic is around two hours, and most take me more around 20-50. I don't know how to just doodle or sketch something.
