Vilppu, Huston, even Loomis to a lesser extent all draw the same things in the same manner over and over again and do it in a way that is intuitive to them, but not you. Most of them seem to be externalising their intuitive approach to drawing, but you hit a hurdle because you’re trying to internalise something that is unintuitive to you rather than working to refine your intuitive rhytm of drawing with knowledge of perspective, anatomy, etc.
The worst thing is that after so many years using these processes they’re so ingrained in my muscle memory I can’t even tell what comes naturally to me, I find myself having to consciously weed out the garbage stifling me.
